Local Diving - Boynton Reef Sites - Lynn's ReefLynn's Reef, named after Captain Lynn Simmons, is the prettiest section of the Boynton Reef system. There is more marine life and more topographical variety here than on any other part of the reef. And with depths as shallow as 40 feet, it makes a great second dive. However, Lynn's Reef can be hard to stay on when the current is strong because the reef trends to the North and West which means that strong North running currents tend to blow you over to the deeper Eastern side of the reef. To avoid this fate, make a conscious effort to hug the Western edge of the reef when the current is strong. Reef Cross Section This is the most diverse part of the Boynton Reef System. You can't go wrong no matter where you go. However, the best dives on this section of the reef are Zones 1 (Table Tops), 3, and 5. West <--->East
Since Lynn's Reef is normally dove as the second dive, air divers will get more bottom time by staying on the top section of the reef in Zone 5. |
