Local Diving - Boynton Reef Sites - Castle LedgeCastle Ledge is named after a landmark on the shore that looks like a castle. That said, don't go looking for a castle on this dive. But do go looking for a wide variety of marine life including turtles, sharks, and Moray Eels. They just love hiding under the wide ledges. Castle Ledge is an easy section of the reef to dive since it has a very pronounced ledge to follow. Heading North, the section begins with an out-cropping I call Drop Point. From there you will find two large, amphitheater like sweeps of reef. These sweeps end at a 15 foot high ledge that heads West toward shore. Following this ledge West will take you to the beginning of Lynn's Reef. Reef Cross Section Castle Reef has some spectacular vertical sections with a 10 to 15 foot relief in Zone 3. And the step ledge in Zone 4 is loaded with schools of fish. To get the most out of this dive follow the main ledge when it is at it's best and go East to the step ledge for fabulous variety.
