BEGINNER SETTINGS
After wadding through the Nikon's D70 User Manual and Thom Hogan's Complete Guide to the Nikon D70, I have concluded that the following settings are the only changes that I must make to the default settings when using a Nikkor 12 - 24 lens and Ikelite DS 125 strobes. Camera Body Settings
Set each of the following settings to the value shown. That way you will be sure the camera is set up properly. And, as a bonus you will become more familiar with your camera.
Note 1: Before setting the camera to these settings, reset all camera settings to their default values per pages 111 and 136 of the users manual. By so doing you can avoid being ambushed by an errant setting.
Note 2: A number of the following camera body settings can also be set in the rear LCD menus listed under Intermediate User Settings. But for now, to keep things simple and to avoid accidentally changing other rear LCD menu settings, use the camera body setting approach.
Lens Body Settings
Ikelite Strobe Settings
- No iTTL Controller With Sync Cord Attached - Set Strobe to 1/2 Power NOTE
- With iTTL Controller for TTL or Manual Control - Set Strobe to TTL NOTE
INTERMEDIATE USER SETTINGS
If you are a beginner, you can safely ignore these settings if you followed all of the recommendations listed above in the section titled Beginner Settings.
The following is a list of the rear LCD menu settings available from the LCD including recommendations for optional settings to better suit the camera for underwater use.
