Here is an interesting version of the last shot.

Fisheye lenses distort images and make the central portion look closer and bigger than it is. And there is software to correct for this distortion.

This "corrected" version was produced by Nikon Capture NX software. Basically it shows what the picture would have looked like if it was not curved. Think of it a Mercator map of the earth.
